For those of you who have maybe heard the rumors and wondered if they were true, yes, they are!! We have begun the process of adoption! We are very excited to get this process started and to see where God leads us. We know He will teach us some amazing things throughout this.
At this time, we are pursuing a domestic adoption of an african american child, most likely a boy. We have been seriously looking at all the different avenues of adoption and after much prayer and research, we feel this is where God is leading us at this time. Our children are very excited and I can't wait get this journey written down for our future child. The exact timeframe of this adoption is can vary quite a bit but our homestudy should take approximately 2 months and then we can get everything in to the agency. The agency right now is saying that average wait times is around 6 months but have placed within a few weeks of having the homestudy done. So I guess we just try to prepare as quickly as we can and wait on God.
We do have some of the fees set aside to get this process going but we will be needing to raise the remaining portion. At this time, we are planning on hosting suppers either in our home or catered in someone else's home. These suppers could be anything from murder mystery suppers, southern barbeque suppers, or any other menu we can work out together. If hosted in our house, the number of people can be anywhere from 6 to 10 people. This will be done for a donation as everyone sees fit. We are also welcome to any other suggestions on fundraisers.
We covet your prayers during this process. We know from experience that the power of prayer is amazing and we know that there can be many ups and downs. In good times and in bad, God is always there working these things for the good of those who love Him. We look forward to having you follow us on this journey!
YEAAAA! I am sooo excited ....ya'll are my first offical fellow Covenant Care-adotpting-at-the-same-time family!!! OK, so when you get your peanut and have your wait time in Georgia, we would LOVE for you to stay with us! You may think that would be crazy to stay with strangers....but I consider any CC family as our family! Plus, it would keep you from spending money on a hotel and food. I am going to contact CC and tell them we want to be the "host family" for out of state placements! So glad to know you all!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to meet another family on this journey. Looking forward to following your adoption adventure!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!! We are praying about adoption too and I really think we are being led toward domestic too of an AA baby. I felt really good about Covenant Care too, so I'll be following your journey to see how it goes for you. I was adopted at age 13 mos and it's been such a blessing in my life.
